Effective date: 22 August 2026
Applies to: the PDFMason app for macOS, iPadOS, and iOS.
PDFMason is designed to be private by default. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information or your documents. This policy explains what that means in detail.
The short version
- Your PDFs and everything you do to them stay on your device (and in your own iCloud /
file storage, which we never see).
- All intelligent features — Summarize, Ask, Translate, Find Sensitive Info, OCR, and Read
Aloud — run on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Your document content is not sent to us or to any third party.
- We have no user accounts, no servers, and no analytics or advertising SDKs.
- The only company involved in your purchase is Apple, which processes it under its own
privacy policy.
Information we do not collect
PDFMason does not collect, log, or transmit:
- your documents, their contents, or anything you type, draw, sign, or annotate;
- names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other personal data (including any our tools help
you find inside your own documents);
- usage analytics, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or location;
- crash reports containing personal data.
Because we operate no servers and include no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs, this information never leaves your device through PDFMason.
How your documents are handled
- Documents you open, create, or edit are stored locally on your device and, if you choose,
in your own iCloud Drive or other file provider. We have no access to them.
- On-device features (OCR text recognition, Summarize, Ask, Translate, Find Sensitive Info,
and Read Aloud) process your document locally using Apple's Vision, Foundation Models, Translation, and Speech frameworks. This processing happens on your device and is not sent to PDFMason.
- Optional features such as camera document scanning use your device hardware; captured images
become pages in your document and are not transmitted to us.
Purchases
PDFMason offers optional in-app purchases (PDFMason Pro). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple provides us only aggregate, anonymized sales and subscription reports. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Permissions we request
PDFMason asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it:
- Camera — only to scan documents you choose to scan. Images stay in your document.
- Files / document access — to open and save the PDFs you select.
You can review or revoke these in your device's Settings at any time.
Third parties
PDFMason does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third party inherently involved is Apple, solely for app distribution and purchase processing.
Children
PDFMason does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). The app is rated 4+.
Your rights
Because we do not collect your personal data, we have nothing to access, correct, delete, or export on your behalf. Your documents and settings live on your device and are fully under your control; delete the app to remove its local data. For purchase records, contact Apple.
Changes to this policy
If we change how PDFMason handles information — for example, if a future feature introduces an optional online service — we will update this policy and its effective date before that feature ships, and describe clearly what changed.
